摘要
美国文学史最早上溯到17世纪英国殖民者殖民北美时期所产生的书信、日记、布道文、演说稿等实用文体。此外,作为殖民文学的开端的还有一类反映清教意识形态和工作伦理的、理论性较为突出的布道演说和议论文,如温斯罗普演说稿《基督仁爱的一种方式》。本文通过解读温斯罗普这篇演说稿,分析文本中体现出的清教道德和美学思想,指明其在北美文学思想史上的重要地位。
The American history of literature dates back to the practical literature such as the the letters, diaries, preaching,lectures that flourished in the English colonies of the 17th century. Besides that, as the beginning of the colonial literature some preaching papers and polemics which were representations of the idealogy of the Puritanism and the Puritan work ethics appeared. They were persuasive in theo- ry. Winthrope＇ s A Model of Christian Charity was one of them. This article by interpreting the lecture analyzes the Puritan ethics and ae- thetics reflected in it and demonstreates its important status in the history of literary thoughts in North America.
