由于地理、历史及民族的影响因素，武威方言受中原文化的影响较小，方言在古今演变过程中发展缓慢，大量古语词和古语音在今语中得以留存。武威方言在许多古籍著作中都留有印记。探究古词语和古语音在令语遗存，对了解地方文化史，保护非物质文化遗产，发掘武威文化具有重大意义。

Thanks to the influencing factors such as geography, history and ethnic groups, Wuwei dialect has been hardly influenced by Central Plain culture and, with a great number of archaic words and pronunciations pre- served. Wuwei dialect can be discovered in many ancient books. The study of the remains of the archaic words and pronunciations presorved in current dialect plays an important role in learning about the local cultural history, protec- ting intangible cultural heritage, and exploring Wuwei culture.
