On October 28 the long awaited acquisition of online video streaming site PPTV finally came to a close. Unexpectedly, the site wasn't acquired by internet giant Alibaba as some predicted, but the combined effort of long time electronic retailer Suning and Legend Capital subsidiary Hony Capital. These two newest shareholders will invest a total of $420 million to acquire a controlling stake in PPTV. Suning is looking to PPTV to bring new users, technology and media entertainment into its ever expanding online empire, so as to further solidify its presence outside the e-commerce arena.
