摘要
于ISIS创刊100周年之际,作者1)追忆萨顿为推动科学史制度化发展而付出的努力,并将之置于当时哈佛大学校长科南特——在科学史学史上值得书写的一位重要角色——所发起的、融科学-科学史教育于一体的哈佛教育改革进程中理解;2)从长时段视角反思中国科学史事业的发展历程,探讨科学史事业在当代中国的社会-文化价值;3)直面上个世纪之交以来科学史学科再制度化进程中所面临的问题,标示我们这一代学者需为之努力的方向。
The author in this paper 1) rechecks George Sarton' s struggle for the institutionalization of the history of science in the Harvard atmosphere of education reform, which aimed at improving general education by combining science education and history of science education guided by James Bryant Conant, who should be remembered as an active actor in the history of history of science; 2) rethinks the process of the institutionalization of history of science in China, to discuss the socio-cultural value of the history of science as a discipline; and 3) analyzes difficulties emerging from the re-institutionalization of the history of science since the last turn of century in China, to make clear what our generation of historians of science should do.
