Basing on solutions of semi-infinite elastic solid under loads,this paper discusses the behaviors of vertical stress and surface settlement.Basing on loading tests,the paper analyses the relationship of the settlement and the size of loading plate,and gives a method to determine bearing capacity of composite foundation
