English lexicology is one of the highly theoretical professional courses for English majors;thus one of the key and difficult points in its classroom teaching lies in how to help students comprehend and grasp the complex theoretical knowl- edge within the limited class hours. Therefore, to constantly improve the efficiency of the classroom teaching is still a priority for the teaching reform of the course. A good entry is usually the first step of a successful lesson, and the situational entry is an effective way to fulfill it. The situational entry aims to set a situation and thus lay the foundation for the smooth develop- ment of the following teaching procedures.
