摘要
空间是哈罗德·品特戏剧中的一个重要象征物,家宅中的房间是空间的主要载体。在空间哲学视野中解读品特的两部主要戏剧作品-《房间》和《看门人》,可以看出剧作家在写作中有意识地探索人与空间之间复杂的关系和作用,即空间丧失了作为避风港与屏障的基本功能,人置身其中感受不到丝毫的温暖与庇护,取而代之的是人与人之间无尽的折磨、猜忌、出卖与恐惧,继而凸显了当下空间掠夺日益加剧的形势,并启发人们对当代人的生存困境进行更为细致的观察和更加深入的思考。
Space is an important symbol in Harold Pinter' s plays, and mainly embodied in a variety of fea- tured rooms. From the perspective of space philosophy, this article examines the space matters in Pinter' s two works, The Room and The Caretaker, points the playwright' s strong consciousness of complex interplay between human and space, namely, space has lost it' s fundamental function as human' s harbor of refuge. Torture, distrust, betrayal and fear have replaced warmth and protection. In a contemporary context of the ever fierce space-depriva- tion, his works evoke a more careful observation and profound meditation on modern people' s existential dilemma.
