莫言用民间审美与审丑的尺度构筑了《檀香刑》的精神家园高密东北乡。他以宏阔的眼光,以对民间本土文化的谙熟特质,寻求着历史、寻求着人性的全部美与丑;他以一种与精英意识和主流话语迥异的价值取向,打破美与丑的界限,为我们呈现了精彩的民间审美与审丑的二元悖论命题。
A MO Yan builds a spiritual home, Gaomi, in SandalwoodDeath, to which he applies beautiful - ugly aesthetics. With his broad knowledge and a good command of native folk culture in Gaomi, he pursues history, beauty and ugliness in human nature. He breaks the boundaries between beauty and ugliness, offers a wonderful dual paradox of folk appreciation different from the con- sciousness of elite and mainstream discourse.
