摘要
一部好的小说仅仅给读者带来阅读的快感是不够的。小说的艺术价值是能够唤起读者的思考和反省,并向人性的层面发问。这一点沙石的小说做到了。沙石是一个晚熟的作家,47岁时开始写小说。在大约10年的时间里,他先后出版了小说集《玻璃房子》、长篇小说《情徒》。这批小说基本上摆脱了传统新移民小说离乡背井的主题,而直接追问人性中男人和女人、富贵和贫贱、高雅和低俗的关系。这给沙石的小说涂上一层怪异、诡秘和荒诞的色彩,令人耳目一新。
It is not enough for a good novel to give readers just the pleasure of reading, for the artistic value of a novel lies in its ability to arouse readers' consideration and introspection and to inquire into humanity, as is evi- dent in novels by Sha Shi. As a late-mature writer who started his novel-writing at the age of ten, Sha Shi has pub-lished successively a collection of short stories--The Glass House and a novel-Love Acts-in about a decade. Free from the traditional motif of exile found in novels on new migrants, these novels probe directly into the relationship between males and females, between the rich and the poor, refreshing because of the weird, mysterious and absurd tint between elegance and vulgarism in humanity, which is on the part of Sha Shi's novels.
