摘要
Digital libraries on Internet are based on multimedia databases.The trend is to develop supermedia databases.This article firstly discusses the functions of traditional database management the multimedia database system should possess,then,in accordance with the characteristics of multimedia information,introduces a systematic structure of a supermedia database system.The system will accommodate many current database systems and be able to realize digitalized information storage and processing on Internet.
