Understanding of FEI Xiao-tongs Academic Thoughts

费孝通是学贯中西和声名远扬海内外的学术大师。他自大瑶山调查开始,便"行行重行行",足迹遍布大江南北,从民族研究、农村研究到城市研究,在最后下活"中华民族多元一体格局"这盘"大棋"的同时,又结合中国乃至全球发展新问题,为学界指明了"心态研究"这个时代要求的"富民"大课题。

FEI Xiao tong was a world famous academic master who had a thorough knowledge of both western and Chinese learning. Since his research in Da Yao Shan area, he had kept traveling around China, doing his studies on ethnic groups, rural areas and urban areas. In addition to his successful move in ＂Plurality and Unity in the Configura tion of the Chinese Nationality＂ , he also indicated to academic circles the major subject of ＂mindset study＂ to satisfy the requirement of enriching people in the new era.
