A Study on the Relationship Between Urbanization and Higher Education

高等教育发展和城市化进程对中国未来发展意义重大。高等教育以促进技术进步引领产业演进助推城市化进程,并通过提升人口素质促进城市经济,以培养文化促进城市文明和谐;城市化则为高等教育提供发展的基础支撑,并影响其定位,城市化模式制约高校区域布局;二者之间相互促动,相互影响,螺旋式演进发展。经过对我国286个城市的数据实证分析,验证了高等教育和城市化的相关关系。提出未来我国应合理控制城市化规模并匹配布局高等教育,应加强高校的绿色低碳教育来支持城市生态文明建设,通过优化高等教育资源配置以促进社会和谐。

The development of higher education and the urbanization of China are vital for China＇s future. Higher education helps improve technical progress, boost urbanization and, through improving population quality, stimulate urban economy to achieve urban civilization and harmony. Urbanization provides a positive infrastructure for the construction of higher education and affects its identity recognition; the pattern of urbanization also registers the regional distribution of universities and colleges. Urbanization and higher education interplay and develop in a spiral movement. Data collected from 286 cities in China axe analyzed to verify the correlation between higher education and urbanization. Suggestions are made that the scale of urbanization should be restricted to match the layout of higher education; green campus and low carbon education should be strengthened to support the construction of urban ecological civilization; and resource allocation should be optimized in higher education to promote social harmony.
