Language Choice under the background of Internationalized Market——A Case Study of the Sellers' Code-switching in Yiwu China Commodity City

义乌中国小商品城是全球最大的小商品集散中心,义乌作为一座快速崛起的国际化商贸城市,其语言使用也逐步趋向国际化。普通话、外语、方言等频繁接触,人们出于言语交际的需要而面临语言选择的问题。本文以义乌中国小商品城经营户为研究对象,调查其针对不同人群的语码转换,以期了解在特定的言语社区里经营户的语言选择情况,并由此发现问题,提出建议。

Yiwu China Commodity City is the world＇ s largest commodity distribution center. It is situated in Yiwu, an international business city on the rise, where the language use is gradually becoming internationalized. Frequently exposed to multilingual communication in Mandarin Chinese, foreign languages and Chinese dialects, people in the commodity city are constantly faced with the choice of language for verbal communication. In order to understand the language selection of the verbal community, this article chooses the sellers in Yiwu China Commodity City as research object, investigates their code-switching, identifies problems and suggests solutions.
