Breath,the lastest work by contemporary Australian writer Tim Winton,has garnered Winton his fourth Miles Franklin Award.Set against the Counter Culture Movement in the 1970s,Breath tells the story of four hippies＇ extraordinary lives and the heavy price exacted for their lifestyle.As a former hippie,Tim Winton recaptures his past experiences from three aspects;risk-taking sport and group living,sexual liberation and drug abuse.The novel provides ideological and behavioral guidance for contemporary youth and represents former hippies＇ serious reflections of their past after their return to mainstream society.
