This essay analyzes the sense of shame generated by three types of discrimination as well as the negative iniluence of this sense of shame on mentally ill patients and their families. The essay argues that we should construct proper cultural mechanisms to rebut such discrimination and reduce the sense of shame experienced by the patients and their families. Directly related to formation of cultural differences and sense of shame, culture as an important variable, influence of mental health problems and the corresponding service policy, research and understand the core value of confucian culture helps to reduce the discrimination for mental patients, to help them overcome the sense of shame. Chinese Taoist culture respected nature,govern by doing nothing that goes against nature,to develop effective psychological therapy, for psychiatric disorders is a symptomatic of medicine.
