As a major technique of fault analysis in power system,fault recorder is of vital importance to accident investigation and to re store power supply quickly after an accident.In the paper,the characteristics an d functions of BEN5000 fault recorder are described in detail from both hardware and software aspects.Then an example of applying BEN5000 fault recorder to Manw an Hydropower Station,together with its'effect on operation is proposed.
