The Guandi Temple at Xiahe County was built by traders from Shaanxi and Beijing in late Qing dynasty. It served as a temple for Taoism activities in the beginning and integrated with Tibetan holy mountain worship afterward. The integration of gods from both Tibetan and Han people in one temple is regarded as a special religious phenomenon. The temple-fair, which takes place in June every year, has become an important folk cultural festival and attracts people from Gaanan and Linxia counties. It reflects the cultural exchange among all the people from different ethnic groups.
