Two Wings of Academic Development: Freedom and Adaptability

学术自由是相对的,绝对的学术自由是虚妄之物,它在很大程度上是研究者的臆想。社会适应之于学术发展是必然的,它未必一定阻碍学术发展,学术发展需要社会支持。主动适应是学术自由和社会适应保持一定张力的基点,它是"两条规律"的题中之意。

Academic freedom is relative. There is no such thing called ＂absolute academic freedom＂ , and to a large extent, it is the surmise of researchers. Social adaptability is inevitable to academic development, and it will not necessarily impede academic development which needs support from society. Active adaptability is the basis for academic freedom and social adaptability to keep certain tension, and it is the meaning of ＂two rules＂ . So, the conclusion ＂College should return back to cognitive rationality＂ which derived by professor Zhan and Chen in the article is groundless.
