There are particular similarities and differences between Nida＇ s Functional Equivalance and Hu Gengshen＇ s Eco - translatology. As a kind of breakthrough and supplement of the functional equivalence theory, Eco - translatology overcomes the de- ficiencies of the functional equivalence theory to some extent, which has developed a new perspective for translation theory study in the future. The comparative study starts from lheir similarities and the focus is on their differences and the practical significance of the comparison.
