The theoretical evolution on the character and position of state sovereignty indicates that the theory of relative sovereignty is the realistic theory of understanding the character of sovereignty correctly; the theory of absolute sovereignty is the dated theory of distorting the character of sovereignty; the theory of denying the proper position of state sovereignty in the international law is ivory-towered or has ulterior motives; the theory of maintaining the proper position of state sovereignty in the international law is in accordance with the needs of peace and development of nowadays international community.
