Commonly, a designer has difficulty with designing the braking system of a trunk conveyor owing to the fact that the transportation quantity,1ifting altitude and installed power of the conveyor is great. This paper describes in detail the load characters of this type of conveyors and their essential requirements to soft starting system, offers the determination rule of the starting parameters. And combined with applications in engineering the designing method of the starting system is introduced.
