"易有太极"之后,宇宙如何生成,既有内容、也有形式的问题,而这便与"三"数结下了不解之缘。太极"函三为一"是学者对于太极本原内涵的一种猜测,它包括阴阳非阴非阳、阴阳天、天地人等多种组合,宇宙的生成便是太极内涵之三的展开并按三数的倍增法则逐步分化繁衍所致。

In this way, the production and formation of the cosmos became the unfolding of the three conceived in Taiji and resulted from triplication.
