Chinese Media in Australia：An Overview

The Chinese language media in Australia has developed with the rapid growth of the Chinese community in the country.It has played an important role in the assertion of the Chinese Australians’cultural identity and sense of community,and in the promotion of the harmonious existence and development of the Chinese in Australia under the auspice of multiculturalism.The Chinese language media has also served to preserve and promote the Chinese culture,and to link the cultural and social relations between the old and new generations of Chinese immigrants.This paper is an analytical study of the Chinese language media’s historical development,the status quo,the challenges and their responding strategies.
