Overview of the 19^(th)-20^(th) century Confucianism Research in America

近现代美国的儒学研究从19世纪的新教传教士开始,经过20世纪上半期专家学者的探索研究,到20世纪中后期逐步发展成熟,成为海外儒学研究中心。美国学者从西方哲学认识论角度出发研究儒学及其发展,对于儒学向现代转变和现代性的阐释具有重大意义,而且增进了中美之间的文化交流。

Starting from the Protestant missionaries in the 19th century, the research of Confucianism in modern America has gone through experts and scholars＇ exploration in the first half of the 20th century, gradually matured in the late 20th century, and by now it has become the center of overseas study of Confucianism. America scholars study Confucianism and its development from the perspective of epistemology of Western philosophy, which is of great significance for the modernization and modem ex- planation of Confucianism. Besides, it has promoted the cultural exchange between China and America.
