Amber is the soul of the novel ＂Forever Amber＂ written by Catherine Windsor, an important contemporary American writer. Based on the introduction of the author and her works, the paper shows the social and historical background when the hero- ine Amber lived and analyzes her by Freud＇s Theory of Personal- ity Structure which includes three parts： id, ego and superego.
