American female writer Flannery O'Connor's novels have been much criticized for they are full of violence and death. The writer holds that the key of interpreting her novels is to un- derstand her identity as a Christian writer. From the perspective of "distance realism", this paper attempts to explore how the writer used violent scenes to convey her aim of religious creation and her religious thoughts.
