A Century History of the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers' Society: 1844-1944

罗奇代尔公平先锋社是19世纪蓬勃兴起的合作社运动中第一个真正获得成功并得到发展的合作社。文章详细分析了其成立的社会背景,总结了奠定其发展基础的办社原则,从成员人数变化、交易量和交易额、业务创新以及教育培训等方面对其发展做了描述,并从注重分配公平、尊重社员民主权利、发展教育培训、经营规模化等方面,探讨其对我国农民专业合作社发展的借鉴意义。

The Rochdale Pioneers＇ Society is regarded as the prototype of the modern co-operative society and the founder of the Co-operative Movement. In this paper we first analyze the social background of its establishment in detail,and then we summarize its principles and make a description about its development from several aspects,such as changes of the number of the membership, trading volume and turnover,business innovation and education training. Finally,we put forward a series of suggestions such as attaching more attention to the fairness of allocation, respecting members＇ democratic rights, providing more education and training programs to promote the development of rural cooperatives in our country.
