On the Importance of the Excavation and Inheritance of Traditional Techniques

无论从古建筑的修缮、历史文物保护,还是对地方特色、民族特色和传统风貌的传承方面,都离不开传统工艺技术。历史建筑、文物建筑、地方特色和民族特色建筑存在多久,传统工艺技术就会相应地沿用多久。从这种意义上来说,发掘、整理、传承传统工艺技术不仅不是权宜之计,而且是一项长期的任务[1]。

In the ancient architecture repairand the protection of historical cultural relics, as well as the inheritance of local characteristics, national characteristics and traditional style, traditional techniques are inseparable. As long as historic buildings, and local and ethnic features building exist, the traditional techniques will be used. In this sense, the excavation, consolidation, and inheritance of traditional techniques is a long-term task instead of a matter of expediency.
