Conceptual Metaphor in English Time Proverbs

运用概念隐喻理论对英语"时间"谚语进行分析,将英语"时间"谚语划分为四组隐喻概念:Time is money(时间是金钱)、Time is human/life(时间是有生命的人)、Time is a concrete object(时间是具体的实物)、Time is a moving object(时间是运动的物体),论述了这些隐喻概念表达都呈系统性,指出转喻是时间概念化的一种方式和过程,它是通过时间与事物甚至有生命的人之间的转喻联系实现的。

This is an analysis of English time proverbs from a theoretical perspective of Conceptual Metaphor. The results show that English time proverbs can be categorized into four groups of concepts： Time is money; Time is human/life; Time is a concreteobject; Time is a moving object. They are systematic. The conceptualization in English time proverbs is also a metonymic process, which is realized by the metonymy between time and object, time and human or life.
