Voltage transformers are frequently damaged in railway power lines. Based on spot field investination and thorough theoretical research, the paper reveals the main causes of voltage transformer breakdowns and puts forward several methods to reducd the probability of breakdowns. On-the-spot experiments show that the theoretical analysis is correct and the methods are feasible.
