The New-style Land forces in Yili was an important military institution reform at the end of Qing Dynasty. Its composition was complicated and arranging regular; the quality of the officers was higher, whose ap- pointments were prudent; the military expenditure was high but it laid a foundation of the modem military system in Yili.
