An Overview of the Linguistic Study on Different Medieval Chinese Versions of the Same Sutra

同经异译汉文佛典的语言,很早就引起了学者的关注。同经异译佛典在汉语史研究上的价值日益引起重视。利用同经异译佛典,汉语史领域取得了系列成果,词汇学方面尤为显著。笔者以为,同经异译佛典语言研究应进一步扩大研究范围、推进全面均衡研究、加强系统性研究、采用科学的研究方法。

The different Chinese versions of the same sutra have long attracted the attention of scholars and they are of great value in the study of Chinese language history. A series of achievements, especially in lexicology, have been made in the field of Chi- nese language studies. The author holds that it is necessary for us to further and expand the linguistic study on different Chinese versions of sutra, promote a comprehensive and balanced research, strengthen the systematic study with scientific research meth- ods.
