Adhering to and Developing Mao Zedong's Strategic Thought on Active Defense

在我国长期的革命战争实践中,毛泽东依照敌强我弱、敌优我劣的历史条件,创造性地提出了积极防御的战略思想。在这一正确的战略思想指导下,我国取得了抗日战争的胜利,我军取得了解放战争的胜利,新中国成立后又实现了数次国防斗争的胜利。在中国崛起和国防逐步现代化的今天,面对复杂的国防斗争新形势,坚持和发展毛泽东积极防御的战略思想,仍具有十分重要的战略意义。

In the long-term practice of revolution in China, and in accordance with the actual historical situation when the enemy was far stronger and in better condition than our army, Mao Zedong creatively put forward the strategic thought of active defense. It was under the guidance of this thought that China achieves the victory of the Anti-Japanese war and our army achieves the victory of the war of liberation ;it is also under the guidance of this thought that the new China, after its foundation, has achieved several victories in national defence. Today, the rise of China and the modernization of our national defense bring about new complicated situation for China＇s national defense. Therefore,it is of great strategic signifi- cance to adhere to and develop Mao Zedong＇s idea of active defense.
