中美公共图书馆英文网站跨文化适应度的比较研究

A Comparative Study of English Web Sites between the Public Libraries of China and America from Cross-cultural Adaptation Perspective

论文采用内容分析法与在线问卷调查法相结合的研究方法,从跨文化角度研究网站可用性,分析了中美图书馆英文网站产生差异的原因在于:权力距离和个人主义/集体主义维度上有明显差异,而且差异非常显著。该文为图书馆网站跨文化设计提供理论支持,藉此提升网站的可用性。

By adopting the content analysis methodology in combination with a questionnaire, this paper intends to find out the usabil- ity of English websites of the public libraries in China and America from cross -cultural adaptation perspective, attempts to identify the rea- sons that cause the differences. Research findings indicate that there are significant differences in view of two dimensions, namely, power dis- tance and individuality/collectivism. The research cotdd be used as a theoretic framework upon which the assessment of the usability of web- sites （：an be grnunded, thus the usability of websites could be improved.
