Julian Barnes＇ latest work in 2011, ＂The Sense of an Ending＂, relates the narrator＇ s recollection of past life during his investigation of his friend＇ s suicide. This paper attempts to analyze the death narration of the novel which is constructed through the narrator＇ s examination of individual memory and personal history. This paper explores the significance of death for personal existence by application of death narration and interprets Barnes＇ existentialism of ＂being-towards-death＂.
