Based on collecting and analyzing literature, the item, research content and research methods of geophytopathology were discussed. The development of basic branches of science, especially computer techniques, provided sound conditions for the formation of geophytopathology. The need for the forecast of disease epidemics in large scale and disease management encouraged the development of this subject. It is believed that in the near future geophytopathology will be formed as a new subject with its own theory and valuable usage.
