Coining Characters of Chu Num

喃字是越南人民借用汉字形体所造的越南文字。根据喃字与汉字的关系可将喃字分为假借字和自造字两大类。每一大类下再依据形与音义的关系分为三种,假借喃字分借形音、借形义、音形义兼借三种。自造喃字分表音、表义、音义兼表三类。每一类下又细分为若干小类。

Nom word is borrowed from Chinese characters. According to Chu Nom relationships with Chinese characters, there are two categories of Chu Nora： borrowed characters and self-made characters. Under each category, three types are divided based on the relationship between shape, sound and meaning. They are borrowing sound and meaning, borrowing shape and meaning, and borrowing phonetics, shape and semantics in borrowed Chu Nom. Self-made characters ofChu Nom have 3 types： self-made phonetics, self-made semantics, self-made phonetics and semantics.
