《美食家》是一部描写苏州市井生活与美食风味的中篇小说,它不仅将"吃"写得生动鲜明,栩栩如生,而且也展现了中国悠久、灿烂的饮食文化;倡导了一种烹饪营养、饮食审美、饮食休闲与养生的饮食观,在当今社会具有现实意义。
The novella Gourmet depicts Suzhou delicacies and everyday life of the local people. It gives a dis-tinctively vivid description of dieting which exemplifies the refulgent history of Chinese catering culture. It ad-vocates such concepts as nutrition and esthetics in cuisine, eating for entertainment and regimens, and so on. These viewpoints are still of realistic value today.
