Foreign Affairs of the Transitional Period: Sino-Thai Relations Before and After 1975

中泰两国是邻邦,有着友好交往的悠久历史。但二战后的冷战格局却将中泰阻隔近30年。从70年代初开始,中国与东南亚国家关系面临着重要的转变,主要因为国际环境和地区格局发生重大变化:中美关系缓和,中苏交恶,美苏竞争加剧,苏联支持越南在东南亚地区推行地区霸权主义的扩张政策。中国与泰国等东南亚国家出现了战略与安全方面的合作需要。1975年,中泰正式建立外交关系。中泰合作和两国人民的友好关系进入了一个新的时期。

China and Thailand are neighbors with a long history of cordial relations. However, the two countries＇ relation- ship was thwarted by the cold - war pattern after World War Two for nearly 30 years. In the early 1970s, China＇s relations with Southeast Asian countries faced a critical turning point, which was determined mainly by the changes in the interna- tional environment and the regional structure the Sino-American rapprochement, the Sino-Soviet conflicts, the tighte- ning up of Soviet-American competition and Soviets＇ support of Vietnam＇s expansionary policy of regional hegemony in Southeast Asian. Therefore, China＇s relations with Thailand as well as other Southeast Asian countries were gifted by the necessity in the strategy and security cooperation. Inthis case, China and Thailand established formal diplomatic relations in 1975. The cooperation and friendship between the two countries entered a new oeriod.
