Among the contemporary Arab women writers, the Egyptian novelist Ahdaf Soueif is distinguished by her transcultural writing. Residing in England, she shares the same trend with many other indigenous Arab women writers, by moving from the private space to the public space, from gender politics to macropolitics. This article tries to analyze the political themes reflected in her representative work The Map of Love, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and examine the postcolonial feminist thought which pushed this political turn from the perspective of transculturalism.
