在诗人拉金看来,日常生活美丽可爱。单调、重复的日常生活隐含着深刻的内容,压迫与解放的品质混同代表日常生活的多重面空格。人的幸福和希望不可能诉诸日常生活之外而在其中。人只有在日常生活中,才能以完整的形态和方式体现出来。拉金诗歌中的城市日常生活题材、"非英雄"塑造、日常用语等是其日常生活诗学的重要元素。虽然拉金对日常生活中的顽固习惯性、保守性、重复性的刻画又遭到了一些评论家的强烈抨击,但并不影响拉金对日常生活艺术的总体描绘。从总体上来看,拉金构建日常生活诗学是其"诗学自救"的一种策略。拉金强调对日常生活的"现实"的关注,开掘与传统的勾连;对"非英雄"人群的塑造和日常散文式用语的采用,使得他的诗歌得以容身于20世纪中叶的世界文化和权力秩序中,构建了英国诗歌的主体。
Philip Larkin,the distinguished English poet,sees the lovely everyday life as the repositories and wonders that includes its quality of repression and liberation.Only in everyday life,happiness and hope can be obtained and man can grow up as a"whole man".Although commonness is a superficial point in Larkin's poetry,his description on everyday life,the strategy of self-salvation in poetry writing,makes Larkin's works uniqueand poetical.Lovely everyday things,non-hero and plain language,the beautiful blossoms of his poetry,have constructed an remarkable art between"high art"and"ordinary"existence,which present a moving panorama for the exploration of the British poetic redemption in the middle of the 20th century.
