The article reviews the English development and use in our country, on the basis of which the status of English in our country is revealed and the prospect of the future language environment is made in our country. English has permeated into every field of our lives, and its advantageous position makes a threat to our national and official language-mandarin. However, it is out of the question for English to take the place of Mandarin. Mandarin can adopt the good things from the English language to enrich our language and culture.
