Castoriadis, who is a famous and left -wing person in France, is a encyclopedic thinker with great academic accomplishments. His later thoughts are concentrated on the themes of radical Imagination, creation and autonomy. The radical imagine is a kind of ＂ex nihilo＂ creative imagination, which can be repre- sented as personal radical imagination and the radical social instituting imagination. These two kinds of imagi- nation are the source of human autonomy. Castoriadis takes radical imagination as the logic starting - point of his theory construction, which makes great influence in the western world. However, his theory itself has in- ternal contradictions and problems, which are more or less questioned and criticized by the western academia.
