中日关系的难题集中在日本所称"尖阁列岛"和中国所称"钓鱼岛"的领土争议上。中日之间发生意外和冲突的危险确实存在。一旦意外情况发生,中日要再次和解,可能要推迟数十年,甚至更长时间。这对于中日以及世界其他国家都是不利的。要避免中日关系冲突,应该启动改善中日关系的艰难进程,深切希望中日两国和平共处,相互合作。日本应避免采取富有挑衅性的举动,中国则不以武力施压。高级别的领导人会晤和中日两国民众之间的交流应当不断进行。

The difficulties between China and Japan now focus on the conflicting territorial claims over islands the Japanese call the Senkakus and the Chinese call Diaoyudao. The dangers of accident and conflict are real and if an accident occurred, reconciliation between China and Japan could be delayed for decades or even longer, which would be bad for Japan, for China, and for the rest of the world. Great effort should be made to start the process of improving Sino - Japanese relations, with the aim that two great countries can work together peacefully. Japan should avoid actions China considers provocative, while China should not use armed pressure. The meeting of high level political leaders and people -to -people communication between China and Japan should be rebuilt and expanded.
