From Death to Rebirth——On Theme “Life” in CAO Yu's Plays

存在于宇宙中的所有事物都拥有自己的生命,所以在曹禺的剧作里,处处都流露着"生命"这一主题。他抱着一颗爱国之心,抒发对"人吃人"的半封建半殖民地的旧中国和残酷畸形的旧社会制度的愤懑。他成功的塑造了陈白露、方达生、金八、繁漪、周朴园、鲁大海、仇虎等人物形象,通过人物所处的环境和他们"鬼"似的生活来影射当时社会的腐朽和肮脏不堪。他结合人物的命运向当时的统治阶级宣告:这样的社会即将崩塌,新的生命已经开始降临。曹禺通过作品发泄心中的情感,通过作品向世人呐喊:太阳可以驱走一切黑暗!

Since everything in the universe has its own life, the theme of ＂life＂ appears many times in CAO Yu＇ s plays. He held a patriotic heart, expressing resentment to the semi feudal and semi colonial China and old cruel social system. He successfully cre- ated some characters as CHEN Bai-lou, FANG Da-sheng, JIN Ba, FAN Y!, ZHOU Pu-yuan, LU Si-hai and QIU Hu to imply thedecadent and corrupt society through their poor living conclition and ＂Ghost＂ like life. He proclaims to the ruling class at that＇time through the fate of the characters ： this society is about to collapse, and a new life has begun to come. CAO Yu expresses his emo- tions and cries to the world through the works： the sun can drive away all the dark!
