Study on Architectural Thought of Kengo Kuma

隈研吾建筑思想是日本传统文化和西方现代文化的奇异混合体。一方面展示出日本传统文化中尊重自然和钟情质朴的宽容和矛盾精神,另一方面展示西方文化中哲学概念与逻辑分析,从而形成尊重自然而压抑建筑的建筑哲学观,有意制造建筑概念与建筑形式的内在张力。隈研吾在文字作品的形而上(理性)与建筑作品的形而下(感性)之间形成一个强烈的对比,展示了驾驭东西方文化的卓越才能和驾驭乡土建筑创作的非凡智慧。

The architecture of Kengo Kuma is the strange mixture between Japanese traditional culture and modern Western culture. Firstly, it shows philosophy and logic analysis of Western culture; secondly, it demonstrate the tolerance and conflict spirits of the Japanese traditional culture which respects for nature. Then Kengo developed the ideas of nature and of the repress concept of architecture, and bring up internal tension between architectural concept and architectural forms. It causes a strong contrast between his writings of the metaphysics and his architectural works of emotion. It demonstrates his superior talent and extraordinary wisdom to control the eastern and western culture.
