Zadie Smith's first novel White Teeth truly describes various dilemmas of post-war immigrants to Great Britain. The paper aims to analyzes the text, devote a further discussion to the cultural dilemmas of the second-generation immigrants in London after WWII, and indicate the difference of the second-generation immigrants from their parents—they receive English education but get unequal treatment, so they are put into a dilemma of westernization or orientalization by the influence of both English culture and their native cultures.
