从20世纪二三十年代到21世纪初张恨水小说《啼笑因缘》产生的三次热门效应,说明文学作品是一个不断被读者理解、认识和接受的过程,其主要原因在于:读者期待视野的变化,作品本身具有不断被发掘的"潜藏意义",以及文学史观念和传播方式等社会接受的因素的变化。
