布尼亚科夫斯基(В.Я.Буняковский,1804—1889)是圣彼得堡概率学派的杰出代表。其不仅拓广了拉普拉斯的一些重要概率理论,同时也给出一些创新性研究结果。故布尼亚科夫斯基的相关研究推动了概率论在俄罗斯的传播和发展,为近现代概率论的萌生奠定了理论基础。

V. Ya. Buniakovsky is a prominent representative of the St. Petersburg Probability School. While Bu- niakovsky＇s works on probability theory had strong influence upon Laplace＇s probability thought, his works did con- tain some findings and new ideas. Buniakovsky＇s contributions for a few decades exerted exceptional influence on the teaching of the theory of probability in Russia.
