本文论述了一个完整的煤炭分类体系，中国的煤炭技术－商业分类和科学－成因分类及其工程意义。完整分类体系的制定与完成，使煤炭的生产者、销售者及用户，可根据实际需要对煤质的需求准确无误地进行交流与选择并指导生产; 进行煤炭资源的储量统计; 也是合理、洁净利用煤炭的技术基础。

Presenting a complete system for coal classification, this a'rticle discusses the coal classification system based on coal technology-commerce and coal classification based on science-origin. Also discussed is the engineering significance of such coal classification systems. Fulfillment of a complete coal classification system can facilitate the communications, selections and production adjustment amongst coal producers, sellers and consumers on the basis of accurate demands for quality standards of coal. Coal classification system can also facilitate the calculation of coal resources and coal reserves and coal classification system is also the technical basis for a rationalized and cleaner utilization of coal.
